Are you, or are you the parent of, a 6th-12th grader wanting to interact with teenagers from all over Salem-Keizer and evolve through various avenues of discovery? Open Door Churches youth group is a safe and welcoming place for youth (grades 6-12) to explore their faith. We have a place for you! A coop of six Methodist churches, we are a combined group with people from all over town and we rotate our meeting location every month.
Together we enjoy a meal, play games, and have discussions that not build on our awareness and relationship with God, but also weave us together in community as we build relationships with each another.
All are welcome to join us as often as you can. It is completely FREE and begins with a lunch provided every Sunday.
The youth group gathers on Sunday afternoons from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in a fun and supportive group to practice living out our faith through fellowship, worship, studying scriptures, praying for each other and reaching out in mission. Check our Facebook page for our monthly location.
This year our theme is “I Doubt It” and we will explore a series of questions related to our faith in God that have come from youth group members. We meet weekly for good food, challenging discussions, fun games, and community service projects.
Mission Projects and Camping
Each year the youth are given the opportunity to spend a week away on a mission trip and we participate in the United Methodist camping program both in the summer and winter. We would love to have you join us.
Many other small mission projects come up throughout the year. Soup kitchens and Marion/Polk Food Share are two examples of this. Any youth are encouraged and welcome to participate. For more information and upcoming events, check out the youth’s Facebook page.
